12 GAUGE COMICS
12-GAUGE COMICS launched in 2004 with the crime/action anthology THE RIDE.
While developing the concept for the inaugural title, Publisher Keven Gardner recruited the current creative force of the company-- Doug Wagner (Managing Editor), Brian Stelfreeze (Art Director), Jason Pearson, and Cully Hamner, to help bring the series to life. THE RIDE #1 was the top-selling debut black and white comic of the year, and 12-Gauge Comics was off and running.
After solidifying its position as a force to be reckoned with by publishing Pearson’s wildly successful BODY BAGS series, 12-Gauge turned its attention to launching THE O.C.T. (Occult Crimes Taskforce), an original comic book concept co-created and starring actress ROSARIO DAWSON. THE O.C.T. has been featured on “The Today Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Access Hollywood,” and is currently in development as a TV series for cable network A&E.
In 2009 12-Gauge broke away from its original publishing partner (Image Comics) to firmly solidify its unique identity. Blasting out of the gate with its first licensed property, THE BOONDOCK SAINTS comic series made a major splash. With all new stories by series creator/director TROY DUFFY, the comics quickly sold-out, bringing new fans into comic stores across North America. 12-Gauge then moved into the untapped market of country music with superstar recording artist TRACE ADKINS. In LUKE MC BAIN, Adkins lends his likeness to a hard-as-nails character in an adventure story of revenge and redemption, in the tradition of “Walking Tall” and “Billy Jack.” Trace went on a wide publicity tour for the comics; highlights being a guest appearance on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and a feature story in “USA Today”.
Building off of that success the company launched 25 TO LIFE, a limited series that pushed the boundaries of the traditional law enforcement procedural, the high-concept series MAGUS (rewriting the world of magic as we know it), R.P.M., from NYT #1 Bestselling author MICK FOLEY, sell-out hit I.C.E., and the gritty crime drama LOOSE ENDS.
Recent titles include ANTI, from film and TV producer GALE ANNE HURD, and the first graphic novel adaptation of the NICK TRAVERS books series, from The New York Times Bestselling author, Ace Atkins. Titles currently in production include the modern warfare comic series SKULL ONE- SIX from Kevin Maurer, co-author of the controversial New York Times multi-week #1 bestselling novel, No Easy Day, and the second NICK TRAVERS graphic novel, CROSSROAD BLUES.
