12 GAUGE COMICS
12 GAUGE COMICS launched in 2004 and currently publishes some of the most successful and critically acclaimed independent comic books in the marketplace today.
While developing the concept for THE RIDE (the first 12 Gauge title), Keven Gardner (President/Publisher) recruited the current creative force of the company-- Doug Wagner (Managing Editor), Brian Stelfreeze (Art Director), Jason Pearson, and Cully Hamner, to help bring the concept to life. THE RIDE #1 debuted as the top-selling black and white comic of 2004 and 12 Gauge Comics was off and running.
After solidifying its position as a force to be reckoned with by publishing Pearson’s wildly successful BODY BAGS series, 12 Gauge turned its attention to launching THE O.C.T. (Occult Crimes Taskforce), an original comic book concept co-created and starring actress ROSARIO DAWSON. THE O.C.T. was optioned as a major motion picture by Dimension Films only days after the release of its first issue, and remains one of the company’s biggest hits to date. The series has been featured on “The Today Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Access Hollywood,” and many other media outlets.
12 Gauge has also found a niche in the music industry; first packaging comics for the rock band Coheed & Cambria, then taking that experience to Nashville and creating LUKE McBAIN, starring country music superstar TRACE ADKINS as the lead character in this throwback vigilante-action series.
12 Gauge Comics is currently using its talented roster to create new and innovative multi-media concepts, as well as tackling its first licensed material; the recently announced BOONDOCK SAINTS comic series, based upon the wildly popular films written and directed by Troy Duffy, is set to debut in 2010.
